Stained Hemp and Alpaca Trim Kimono

$900.00

This is a one-of-a-kind piece that is hand-sewn and hand-dyed with tea on natural hemp by GGrippo. This is one of our favorite pieces, featuring alpaca trim.

GGrippo has been working in fashion, installation art and photography since the early 80's in Argentina. His contemporary ways of manipulation on fabrics considering ancient textile traditions, carefully researched, visited and practiced. Natural fibers: hemp, cotton, silk and wool are stained, dyed, stitched and re-assembled in wearable and devotional pieces.

GGrippo's art and design work has been shown across numerous design shows, galleries and museums in South America, the USA, Asia and Europe, including: Downtown Design, White Columns, PS1, Vienna Museums Quartier, Museum of Latin American Art of BA, DrapArt and MOMA. Throughout many years they have collaborated with other contemporary artists and performers creating original costumes, installations and environments.
